Stress is one of those things that can never be good. It feeds on your health, it ruins your performance and it can sabotage every single aspect of your life. It today’s modern word, stress cannot be avoided, so the best thing we can do is to learn to manage it as much as possible and to minimize it’s effects on our health and our lives.
If you feel like you are under a lot of stress, don’t be ashamed. Many high level bodybuilders and gainers are under a lot of stress from their surrounding environment – not gaining fast enough, workout not good, family matters, money, job and so on. So here we have set up a list that can hopefully help you fight stress as much as possible and to reduce the overwhelming and frustrating feelings that it brings upon us.
How To Fight Stress?
The first way to reduce stress is with a journal or an organizer. Invest a couple of hours and try to set a up an organizer so that you can know what you need to do and when. This way you can greatly reduce the overwhelming feeling like you have tons of things to do all at the same time. One very important thing here to note is that when it comes to organizing and fighting stress, in most cases something has to be sacrificed or left behind because you simply might not have the time to deal with it. So make sure you have your priorities straight and if it comes to the point where something has to be left behind you must ready for it. It sounds very pessimistic but that’s the way of things unfortunately. Whether it is one day from your workout, or few things from your diet, you gotta be ready to sacrifice for the long term goals. Set up your schedule and try to follow it to the full.
Meditating and changing the way you look at things can be one of the most powerful tools you can use to fight stress. Simply evaluate the situations and re-think whats important and what’s not. Changing your look on things doesn’t necessarily mean you gonna stop dealing with things that were important for you before, it means to take a look at it from a different point of view and this way you can come up with a better and easier way to deal with it.Sounds difficult but actually not. Meditating is a good way to open your mind and flush the negativism out of you. Meditating before or after workout or work can clear you up nicely and charge you with some fresh energy that can prepare you for the new things to come.
Resting is one of the most important weapons when it comes to stress reduction. In many cases the lack of sleep is the biggest stress triggers in people and they don’t even know it. Never miss a good night sleep or a good afternoon nap. Sleep is very important part of bodybuilding and muscle building muscle as well. You can’t go wrong with taking a good few hours of sleep. Recharge yourself and be ready to face the new challenges with fresh burst of energy. Being rested means you are much more capable doing things.
Cut on the simple sugar. Not all carbohydrates are great for reducing your stress level. Some sugar found in some foods, drinks and other processed products can give you a high jump of glucose in your blood with in almost every case is followed by a crash. After that you are left with pretty much zero energy and having no energy makes stress feel like and even bigger burden. A sudden rise in blood sugar levels also comes in with a decent amount of stress on the body.
Going out for a walk is something great when it comes to calming down and removing weight off of your shoulders. People claim that even 10 minutes of nice walk can greatly reduce stress levels. Walking more in general is a good idea. If possible, try to walk home after work instead of jumping into traffic during rush hour. What many bodybuilders to is they walk or run on their way to the gym before workout for many reasons, one of which is a subtle stress reduction.
Drinking herbal tea is one of the best and my personal favorites way to calm down and relax. Step up outside or on the balcony with a nice cup of tea and a paper in hand and enjoy an hour of calm and fulfilling personal time.
Taking care of yourself is very important. Not being able to manage ourselves can lead to great stress which on itself can ruin pretty much every aspect of our lives. Taking good care of ourselves and being able to manage ourselves and the things we do is probably one of the best ways to have a good and successful life. Don’t take things too personally and when something happens to panic and don’t think “oh, my god… what am i going to do”. Instead stay calm and think “ok, so what’s the best way to deal with this.”
